SMS Consent & Opt-In Evidence

1. How Customers Opt In

PayMind sends transactional SMS messages only to customers who have provided their own explicit consent through our customer portal. The consent flow works as follows:

  1. A dealership creates a customer account in PayMind with the customer's phone number.
  2. The customer receives a magic link via SMS or email to access their payment portal.
  3. On first access, the customer is presented with an SMS consent screen (shown below).
  4. The customer must manually check the consent checkbox to opt in to SMS notifications.
  5. The consent is recorded in our database with a timestamp and IP address.
  6. The customer can skip consent and still access the portal — consent is not a condition of service.

No transactional SMS messages (reminders, alerts) are sent until the customer has explicitly opted in. The initial magic link is a one-time access credential, not a recurring notification.

2. Customer Consent Screen (Live at /customer/sms-consent)

When a customer first accesses their payment portal via magic link, they see the following consent screen at https://paymind.joarciniegas.cloud/customer/sms-consent:

3. Consent Record Storage

Upon opt-in, the following data is stored in our PostgreSQL database for compliance verification:

  • sms_consent: Boolean (true/false)
  • sms_consent_at: UTC timestamp of when consent was given
  • sms_consent_ip: IP address of the consenting device
  • customer_id: Unique customer identifier

Records are retained for the duration of the customer's relationship with the dealership and for at least 5 years after account closure for compliance purposes.

4. Types of Messages Sent

PayMind sends only transactional (non-marketing) SMS messages:

  • Payment Reminders: "Your payment of $475.00 to [Dealer] is due on 03/15/2026."
  • Payment Confirmations: "Your payment of $475.00 to [Dealer] was received. Thank you!"
  • Past-Due Alerts: "Your payment of $475.00 to [Dealer] is past due. Please pay to avoid late fees."
  • Account Security: "Your PayMind login code is 123456."

5. Message Samples

Sample 1 — Payment Reminder

PayMind: Hi John, your payment of $475.00 to [Dealer Name] is due on 03/15/2026. Pay now at https://paymind.joarciniegas.cloud. Reply STOP to opt out.

Sample 2 — Payment Confirmation

PayMind: Hi Maria, your payment of $475.00 to [Dealer Name] was received on 03/10/2026. Thank you! View your account at https://paymind.joarciniegas.cloud. Reply STOP to opt out.

Sample 3 — Past Due Alert

PayMind: Hi John, your payment of $475.00 to [Dealer Name] is 5 days past due. Please pay to avoid additional late fees. https://paymind.joarciniegas.cloud. Reply STOP to opt out.

6. Message Frequency

Customers typically receive 2-6 messages per month depending on their payment schedule and account activity. Message frequency varies based on payment frequency (weekly, biweekly, or monthly) and account status.

7. Opt-Out Instructions

Customers can opt out at any time by:

After opting out, no further SMS messages will be sent. Opting out does not affect the customer's loan or payment obligations. Reply HELP for assistance.

8. Carrier & Cost Information

Message and data rates may apply depending on your mobile carrier and plan. PayMind does not charge for SMS messages, but standard carrier rates apply. Compatible with all major US carriers (AT&T, T-Mobile, Verizon, etc.).

9. Privacy
